Certified Suzuki & Traditional Piano Teacher
My studio difference…
1. Offering a student-centric approach to the study of the piano/keyboard. By offering both the Suzuki and Traditional method, I am able to create a program of study that compliments the learning style of your child. Some students are better visual learners, some are better auditory learners, and some are better tactile learners. As an accomplished and experienced teacher, I am able to learn what your child’s preferred learning style is and utilize that preference so that lessons are easy, enjoyable, and FUN.
2. I am one of the few Ohio teachers of the “Pattern Play” method of improvisation. This is an intermediate level program for students who want to advance their arranging, improvising, and piano composing skills.
3. Not just piano lessons, but a Total Music Education. Lessons include: Harmony/Lead sheet playing skills, Theory, Arranging, & Piano Composition.
4. Follower of the Dorothy Taubman School of Technique. A very prestigious and high level of technical/physical training. This method leads to an effortless and very natural way to play. All pianists have different sized and shaped hands. This training helps you overcome your hand’s perceived natural limitations.
5. All levels, all ages. From Pre-school to “Old School”! Music means different things to different people. And it’s meaning changes as you age. The youngest students are usually drawn to rhythm and simple melodies. An adolescent aged student usually prefers richer harmonies, melodies, the more technical/physical keyboard challenges, and the emotional outlet it provides. A mature or advanced student is now drawn to the most complex musical harmonies, melodies, technical/physical challenges that the piano can offer, and the pursuit of the beauty and art potential of the piano.
